Director, Co-Founder, Chief Therapy Officer – Yonah Budd

Yonah Budd has over 30 years of experience working with youth struggling with mental health issues, and specifically addictive behaviors. He holds a diploma in Addiction Counseling from George Brown College and is a licensed Private Investigator specializing in adolescent crimes related to substance abuse. Yonah is the Founding Director of The Corner, a teen empowerment center and founder of Hope House Youth Charities. Mr. Budd is a crisis intervention specialist, and has worked with hundreds of teens and their families.

Family Doctor – Dr. Abida Usman MD

Dr. Abida Usman has been practicing medicine since 1986. She has extensive experience in Family Medicine, and has spent a significant amount of her time devoted to the betterment and well-being of others. She has pursued this objective through extensive voluntary involvement as a community advocate, worker and fundraising.

She has been involved in the Yellow Brick House fundraising committee and is helping provided the needed services to females in our society.

Dr. Usman has received the following awards:

  • Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Culture’s 5 years of continuing service award
  • Recipient of The Medical International Achievement Award from York Region Women of Influence – 2004
  • Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award by David Johnston, Governor General of Canada – 2015

Craig is The Farm’s Psychometrist and supervised by Dr. Newman. Craig brings forward a multi-disciplinary view to understanding psychological functioning, as he holds an Honors Bachelors of Science from the University of Toronto where he specialized in both psychology and biology. Prior to expanding into therapeutic supports, Craig consulted within the pharmaceutical industry, which provided further opportunities to better understand the complexities of his client’s health needs.

Craig’s therapeutic work is anchored in an eclectic model of treatment that is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and several solution focused techniques. Prior to joining The Farm, Craig completed clinical rotations at Trafalgar Residence and Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. Craig has worked a in both private and public sector settings and has recently worked as a psychometrist on an inpatient provincial forensic assessment unit. Craig’s clinical interests include concurrent disorders (addition and with a psychological illness), mood and personality disorders, as well as issues of motivation and change. He has worked in addictions in a variety of roles for the past four years.

Clinical Social Worker – Sarah Spigelman LMSW, RSW

Provides individual therapy to our patients, facilitates CBT education in a group setting, facilitates weekly family support/educational groups, mediates interaction between patients and family. Assist patients with taking steps towards reintegration to society post treatment.

Registered Psychotherapist – Katie McMahon, MA, Counselling Psych, RP

As a Registered Psychotherapist, Katie utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions that are specifically tailored to her clients’ needs including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Supportive Counselling, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Inner Child work.

Lead Addictions Counsellor – Sean Ladds CCAC, ACSW, CPC

Sean’s role as the Lead Supervising Counsellor at The Farm Rehab consists of educating patients on the significant impact addiction has on the individual, and family. His client centered approach and twenty-five years of lived experience further strengthens his commitment and therapeutic rapport in helping those struggling with addiction.

Sean is a member in good standing with the CACCF with the title of a Certified Canadian Addictions Counsellor. In addition, he holds a diploma as an Addictions Community Service Worker through Everest College and is a Certified Professional Coach through Fowlers Institute. His educational background and over 10 years of sobriety has provided Sean with the ability to connect, heighten awareness, and instill hope amongst others struggling with the illness of addiction.

Sean is proficient in anger management, relapse prevention, and treatment planning. He is committed to making the lives of others better by sharing his strength, and changing the mindset of those suffering with addiction.

Addictions Counsellor – Robert McDonald ACSW

Robert graduated with honors in the Addictions and Community Service Worker
program from Everest College and is registered with CCAC. As a recovering
alcoholic, addict, who has remained clean and sober for the past twenty
years. Robert has remained active in twelve step recovery for the past
twenty years, and has insight into becoming a positive member of society as
well as being a living power of example that can aid patients in manifesting
the desire and hope to do the same for themselves.

He possesses comprehensive expertise in the field of addiction and recovery. This coupled
with his compassion, vision and relentless enthusiasm allow him to provide
rehabilitative counselling to clients in a group setting or in a one on one
setting. Robert has extended knowledge of the twelve core functions and able
to implement them in a professional manner.

Certified Addiction Counsellor – Chantelle Caissie BA Psych.

Chantelle’s role as an Addictions Counsellor at The Farm includes facilitating psycho-educational groups and providing individual counselling. She adheres to a holistic approach to recovery and brings compassion and commitment in helping those afflicted with addiction.

Chantelle hold’s a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling. Her clinical background working with patients who have serious, longstanding mental illness aids in her ability to establish strong therapeutic relationships.

Chantelle’s interest was sparked by her personal experience with those suffering from the pervasive effects of addiction and mental health. She is proficient in assessment and treatment planning with respective experience in psychotherapy. She is committed to making the lives of others better by sharing truth, delivering hope, and transforming the mindset of those suffering with addiction.

Head Nurse – Chelsea Holden RPN

Chelsea is a Registered Practical Nurse who earned a Practical Nursing Diploma from Hamilton’s Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2013. She is a member of the RPNAO, has been involved in De-Escalation Workshops, obtained an Advanced Foot Care License and is HPC/CPR certified instructor with Standard First Aid.

Mental health is her passion; she loves helping people in their time of need and challenging the stigma and negative attitudes towards mental health issues.

Prior to joining The Farm in Stouffville, Chelsea taught at Toronto colleges to help others pursue their futures in healthcare.
